Welcome to DOC International |

 The DOC Team
Doctors Outreach Care (DOC) International was established in 2005 by a group of volunteer Zambian Doctors serving the public sector with a passion to promote the health of the Zambian people. It was formed to: 1. Provide outreach health care to underprivileged and disadvantaged communities across Zambia and 2. To offer strategic health care solutions to organisations and governments in Africa. The Brain drain challenge and DOC's role Zambia is among countries in sub-Saharan Africa that are faced with one of the greatest tragedies of the century- that of the Brain drain especially from the health sector. Currently there are less than 800 doctors serving in the Zambian public sector for a country with a population of close to 12 million. This is equivalent to a physician to patient ratio of 1:19,000, which is far higher than the WHO recommended standard of 1:10,000. |
